BACKGROUND

The No Waste Challenge asks designers to respond to one of three global design briefs. Each brief addresses a different aspect of the waste problem. The three briefs are: Take Less, Make Better and Handle Smarter, and they are open to everyone. The briefing document highlights the research findings from design research agency STBY.

VISUAL ASSETS

PREVIOUS CHALLENGES

The No Waste Challenge is the successor of WDCD’s previous design competitions, like the Clean Energy Challenge (2019) and Climate Action Challenge (2017).

The thirteen award-winning concepts from 2017 have now been realized – the results include Power Plant, the world’s first self-supporting Green House, and the Vertical University Project – an 8,000 meter Vertical University in Nepal to help rural farmers adapt to the variable impacts of climate change.
