I AM WHO I AM is a project that gives recognition and social-human value to garbage collectors.
Long description
In Mexico City, garbage collectors go out every day in trucks and carts to carry out essential work on every street in the city. To carry out this work, an important element is your uniform which is issued by the city government. This uniform, thanks to its color, makes them clearly noticeable in the city environment.
But, despite this characteristic uniform and the hard work they carry out, they are not recognized as people but only as “HE FROM THE GARBAGE”, despite the fact that some people show respect for these workers, others make opposite actions and gestures. By such actions, some workers may feel that they are less important for their tasks, when the opposite is true.
The“I AM WHO I AM”project is about the recognition that garbage collectors should have. For this, their uniforms would no longer have so many logos, that is, without graphics, since they would now have their name placed on the front and behind said clothing along with the phrase “I am who I am”. The purpose is to safeguard the being of the workers, since they are people equal to others and not different by their occupation. In this way, people would begin to empathize, raise awareness and reflect that, regardless of the work, we are all the same. Thus, garbage collectors would begin to be spoken by name, even outside of their shift.
