Setting up of Organic fertilizer plant to mitigate problems of solid waste in poultry and dairy farms and enhancing productivity in Agribusiness.
Long description
Why dairy/Poultry Organic Fertilizer?
Bridge the gap between livestock farmers and crop farmers. Most of the livestock farmers produce large quantity of farm waste than they can manage. This waste is usually raw and not recommended to be used directly in the farms. An efficient, effective and reliable organic fertilizer must be processed to keep up with increasing dairy/poultry projects.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE.
- Processing of farm organic waste into organic fertilizers.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Manage solid waste produced in dairy and poultry farms.
- Reduce greenhouse gases and prevent environmental pollution (water & air).
- Increase agricultural productivity of farmers.
EXPECTED RESULTS
- Farmers will be to access solid and liquid(folia) organic fertilizer at affordable prices.
- Mitigate climate change by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.
- Increased yields thus increased income and food security is assured.
INNOVATION
- Proper fermentation, separation of slurry into solid phase and liquid phase.
- Liquid phase is a liquid organic fertilizer used in farms fertigation, biogas production or further formulated to produce to organic folia.
- Solid phase is subjected to drying, crushing, pelleting and packaging to produce solid organic fertilizer.
Stages of production.
- Screening – remove small stones, plastic materials and any other foreign matter.
- Fermentation – anaerobic condition inside biodigester or fermentation tank.
- Dewatering – the machine does solid-liquid separation. It dehydrates slurry.
- Drying – done with fabricated installed troughs with an air regulating damper, fans and air heaters.
- Crushing/pelleting/granulation – its a form of packaging, pelleted manure is made.
