Urban mining ist the way of creating awareness by encouraging locals to recycle their plastic waste into an out door bench for their community.
Long description
Merijaan analyzes and questions the existing plastic waste management structures within the cities. Suggesting the concept of ‘urban mining’. Which means, collecting household waste and specially plastic waste. By adding value to it and recognize plastic as a resource, re-use it locally. The goal it to build out door benches within the community who collected the plastic. Like this create a melting pot for exchange about this wonderful material.
In addition, every part of the bench is melted in shape to avoid reworking the material. And so also to avoid micro-plastics or even smaller plastic parts.
