Solid Waste Management

We propose the adaption of a programme on Solid Waste Management, Environmental Governance and Climate Change Mitigation, with the following objectives:

1. to provide a programme that shall address concerns on Solid Waste Management;
2. to contribute to efforts in safeguarding the environment;
3. to help in mitigating negative effects of climate changes;
4. to assist in strengthening local governance in participating communities/villages by enhancing their capacities and improving delivery of basic services, specifically in the areas of solid waste management, environmental protection and climate change mitigation, and through increased civic awareness and involvement in the samethrough related educational component;
5. to assist in coming up with mechanisms that shall increase the participation, harmony and compliance in the areas of collection and disposal of waste management, environmental safeguards, in mitigating climate changes;
6. to ensure zero-waste in areas of engagement through the effective and efficient management of materials recovery facilities that shall become a livelihoods component to the programme for the ‘poorest-of-the poor’ through the ‘wealth-ranking’ approach in the locations. and,
7. to sustain the programme for a period of ten(10) years with a review on the after the fifth year, with the possible adoption of the programme’s theme – “A Changing  Environment for All’.
