U-Refood is a way to generate food security in a economical and ecological way targeting Lebanese local communities.
Long description
U-Refood is a circular concept with the main goal to reduce food waste through an App. It will focus on creating connections between :
The consumer: The App would create recipe suggestions from the food list available loaded from his shopping list.
The Farmer: The App would help small and new farmers.
Consumer – farmer connection: The Consumer would be able to buy affordable, organic products directly from local farmers. The Farmer could create a deal with the consumer.
The Farmer could sell the weeds that he doesn’t need from the field (weeds are well-known because of their health benefits and are used in traditional cuisine and for medical needs – this would be a good opportunity to reconnect the consumers with old sustainable habits).
Consumer – NGOs connection: The consumer could send unwanted produce or unwanted cooked food to NGOs. The NGOs could be also a food bank that connects the consumer to another consumer in need.
Consumer – Supermarket connection:
The consumer could have the list of products bought from the supermarket loaded into the app with information about expiry dates for each product
The consumer could get discounts from supermarkets (for soon to be expired products)
Consumer – Restaurant connection:
The consumer could get discounts from nearby restaurants by the end of the day (it’s when food is not counted as 100% fresh anymore).
Restaurant – Supermarket connection:
Restaurants could get discounts from supermarkets (for soon-to-be expired products)
